Justin Bieber has led the list of nominees at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.
Gatekeepers News reports that Justin Bieber has led the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards nominees’ list with seven nods which includes video of the year and best direction for “POPSTAR,” artist of the year, best cinematography for “Holy” and best pop song, best editing and best collaboration for “Peaches.”
Megan Thee Stallion followed with six nominations which are mostly from her hit song “WAP” for video of the year, artist of the year, best collaboration, and best hip-hop song.
She also got a nomination for the second time in the best hip-hop song category for her work on Lil Baby’s “On Me (The Remix).”
After her, Drake, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, BTS, Doja Cat, Giveon, and first-time nominee Olivia Rodrigo followed closely with five nominations each.
Competing for artist of the year are Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Doja Cat.
For the video of the year cat. are “WAP” by Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion; “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat featuring SZA; “POPSTAR” by DJ Khaled featuring Drake and Bieber; Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears; Lil Nas X’s “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)”; and Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits”.
Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” is also up for song of the year, alongside “Leave The Door Open” by Anderson .Paak, Bruno Mars, and Silk Sonic; “Mood” by 24kGoldn featuring Iann Dior; “Dynamite” by BTS; “drivers license” by Rodrigo and Dua Lipa’s “Levitating”.
On September 12, the 2021 VMAs will return to New York City and air from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The show will simulcast across Paramount Network, CMT, TV Land, Comedy Central, VH1, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Pop, and The CW Network.
24kGoldn, Giveon, Polo G, The Kid LAROI, Olivia Rodrigo, and Saweetie are nominees of the best new artist.
For Best rock song nominees are Kings Of Leon’s “The Bandit,” Evanescence’s “Use My Voice,” John Mayer’s “Last Train Home,” Foo Fighters’ “Shame Shame,” The Killers’ “My Own Soul’s Warning,” and Lenny Kravitz’s “Raise Vibration.”
