FG Reopens Eko Bridge – Commences Rehabilitation Of Airport Flyover

Federal Government of Nigeria has reopened the Eko bridge and commenced the repair of the airport flyover.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Federal Government of Nigeria, on Friday, August 13 announced the reopening of Eko Bridge, which had been under repairs since Friday, June 4.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olukayode Popoola who announced this in a statement on Thursday night, noted that the 10-week rehabilitation works on Eko Bridge have been completed on schedule.

As regards the rehabilitation of the burnt Lagos Airport flyover, Popoola said traffic would be diverted from August 13.

He said, “The Alaka to Costain section of Eko bridge which was closed to traffic since 4th June 2021 will now be opened on Friday 13th August 2021.”

“The Honorable Minister of Works and Housing thanks the motoring public for their cooperation while the rehabilitation work was ongoing.”

According to him, additional works to be carried out on the Eko bridge would not require closure.

On June 4, the Eko Bridge was shut with traffic diverted for the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Costain-bound section of the bridge.

Popoola noted that the rehabilitation of the burnt Airport flyover bridge in Lagos will commence today (Friday, August 13) till September 22.
