Femi Kuti Urges Nigerians To Get Vaccinated

Afrobeat star Femi Kuti has urged all Nigerians to get vaccinated.

Gatekeepers News reports that Afrobeat star Femi Kuti called on fellow Nigerians to get vaccinated as the country faces a new wave of the virus.

The popular musician set an example by rolling up his sleeve and receiving a dose of the Moderna vaccine himself.

Speaking in Lagos after getting the jab, he admitted that he had been sceptical about vaccinations and did not have one administered when they were first available.

But he says he since realised the importance of being vaccinated because “the virus is real”.

Kuti hopes the more people are vaccinated, the sooner life can return to normal.

He hasn’t been able to travel out of Nigeria for musical tours for a year and eight months due to restrictions imposed because of the pandemic.

“The New Afrika Shrine” in Ikeja, where he performs weekly live music concerts, has been closed for about a year also.

Also receiving her vaccination on Wednesday was 26-year-old Weintonye Sese, an operations coordinator for a ride-hailing company.

She explained how she lost her sense of smell and taste after contracting the virus, but luckily recovered.

Unwilling to take any chances of contracting the disease again, she was eager to be vaccinated.
