Manchester City Saturday thrashed 10-man Arsenal in an English Premier League game.
Gatekeepers News reports that Manchester City completely outplayed ten-man Arsenal team during Saturday’s English Premier League game to see the Gunners slumped to the bottom of the table.
This makes it the first time since 1954 that Arsenal have lost their three opening games of the league season.
Captain Ilkay Gundogan scored the opening goal for City in the 7th minute, and Striker Ferran Torres doubled it 5 minutes later.
A likely hope of a comeback for the Gunners was shattered when midfielder Granit Xhaka was sent off at the 35th minute for lunging into a challenge on Joao Cancelo.
City record-breaking signing, Jack Grealish set up Gabriel Jesus for an easy third just before halftime.
Rodri netted the fourth from 20 yards at the 53rd minute, giving Pep Guardiola’s side a complete edge over Arsenal.
It, however, turned into an extended keep-ball session at the Etihad Stadium as the host finished off the rout with Torres’ second six minutes from time.
By the end of the game, Arteta’s side had managed a single shot – off target – and 19% possession. The defence of the Gunners which was so flimsy scarcely did justice to their status as a Premier League outfit.
Although Guardiola projected a ‘tough game’ for his team, Saturday’s victory was City’s biggest ever win against Arsenal and their third successive 5-0 home win in the league.
