Normalcy Returns To Uniben

Normalcy has returned to the University of Benin (Uniben) after the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami met the demands of the students.

Gatekeepers News reports that Uniben students have returned to classes as normalcy has returned to the institution.

The students had embarked on a two-day protest over the increment of their late registration fee. The Vice Chancellor, however, promised to remove the increment after addressing the students on Wednesday.

On Thursday, some students confirmed that the twenty thousand naira increment has been removed from their online portal.

Meanwhile, the halls of residence seem scanty as some students had gone home after the announcement of the closure of the school by the Registrar. Although the closure didn’t take effect, such students are yet to return to their hostels.

However, those who stayed back said everything is alright, adding that electricity and water have been restored just as the VC had promised.

In a related development, the Vice Chancellor said she would host a press conference on Friday.
