Man Who Tied Another To Stake Over N4.6m Debt Arrested In Lagos

Police have arrested a man who tied another to a stake over N4.6m debt.

Gatekeepers News reports that operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Oluchi Okoye for allegedly tying Reuben Alozie to a stake over an unpaid debt of N4.6 million.

Lagos Police Spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu in a statement said Alozie was rescued by police operatives, following a complaint by his wife.

Ajisebutu said Okoye tied the victim to a stick with ropes at 29, Abeokuta Street, Ebute Metta axis of the state from Wednesday to Thursday.

The Police stated that the suspect said he resorted to “self help” after several efforts to recover his money from the victim failed.

The statement read, “A young creditor identified as Oluchi Okoye, a.k.a. PACA, has been arrested by policemen attached to the Denton Police Station for tying his debtor, Reuben Alozie, to a stake over unpaid N4.6m debt.

“The suspect tied the victim to a stick with ropes at No. 29, Abeokuta Street, Ebute Metta, Lagos from 22nd September to 23rd September when he was eventually rescued by the police.

“The arrest of the suspect was made possible following a complaint lodged at the station by the victim’s wife, Angela Reuben, who reported that her husband was deprived of his liberty by the suspect who held him hostage.”

The Police Spokesperson noted that the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the command’s tactical unit for investigation and prosecution.

Odumosu also advised the general public to avoid taking the law into their hands, adding that they should always seek justice through legal means.
