Buhari Committed To Provision Of Infrastructure For Transportation — SGF

SGF Boss Mustapha says President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to transportation infrastructure.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha says President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to transportation infrastructure.

Mustapha said this at the Inauguration Of FRSC Operations Monitoring and Control Platform in Abuja, FCT.

He was represented by Permanent Secretary General Services Office, Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri.

He said, “I am delighted to be here today to witness another historic day on the developmental strides of the Federal Road Safety Corps in recent times. This is one of the many laudable initiatives of the Corps Marshal and his team and I am happy to be associated with you.

“There is no doubt that the Corps truly comprehends its responsibilities and is committed to delivering on them within the available resources, many of them resulting from the adoption of best global practices, others from sheer critical thinking and commitment to service to humanity.

“Today’s event is yet one of the Corps’ initiatives which is the inauguration of the Operations Monitoring and Control Platform as well as Launch the new sets of body cameras to improve Corps field operations. It is no doubt, a new introduction as it gives the Corps an opportunity to experience firsthand and actually participate in the operational activities on the Highways.

“Let me use this opportunity to reiterate President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to the provision of infrastructure for transportation, which is a key determinant of performance in the transportation sector.

“Transportation plays a vital role in any nation’s development and growth process through multiple channels. In fact, transportation infrastructure encourages transformative economic impact.

“This administration has sustained its massive investment in the development of transportation infrastructure which includes revamping and integrating the various modes like roads, airports, rails, seaports and inland waterways.

“There has been huge rehabilitation and expansion of the road networks across the six-geo-political zones while work on the second Niger Bridge has reached advanced stage.

“While the Federal Government’s efforts remain consistent, it is only proper for the agencies tasked with certain regulatory aspects of the infrastructure to live up to expectation and it is in this respect that FRSC comes in for road traffic regulations.

“If the responsible regulators do not live up to their billing, then government’s efforts would have been in vain.

“The Federal Government is, therefore, in synch with this new initiative of FRSC and encourages other agencies of the Federal Government to develop similar resourceful ways to improve their work processes in the cost-effective manner possible. It is, therefore, my hope that today’s inauguration of the Operations Monitoring and Control Platform and deployment of the body worn cameras will improve the quality of Road Safety management approach in Nigeria.

“Let me use this opportunity to charge the Corps to extend this initiative to cover the entire nation as soon as possible in order to sustain your transformational approach to Road Safety management. Mr. President takes special pleasure in welcoming initiatives like this because they add value to human existence and by extension, humanity.

“At this juncture, I shall now proceed to formally inaugurate the platform to the glory of the Almighty God and to the benefit of humanity.

“I thank you for listening and I wish the Corps more achievement.”
