COVID-19: Premier League Cancels Tottenham – Brighton Game

Premier League has called off Tottenham versus Brighton game which was earlier scheduled to hold on Sunday.

Gatekeepers News reports the Sunday Premier League game between Tottenham and Brighton has been called off due to the COVID-19 outbreak that hit Spurs’ squad.

The European Conference League game schedule to hold tonight between the team and Rennes has also been postponed due to the outbreak.

Spurs had earlier requested for the postponement of their Premier League game against Brighton at the Amex on Sunday.

The Premier League board, however, granted the request by calling it off on Thursday evening.

Tottenham, while announcing the approval in a statement, said: “We can confirm that our Premier League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion, on Sunday 12 December at 2 pm, has been postponed following a Premier League Board meeting this afternoon (Thursday).

“The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone the game following guidance from medical advisers, with the health of players and staff the priority. The fixture will be rescheduled in due course.

“The Club requested the match to be rearranged following a significant number of positive COVID-19 cases among players and relevant staff.

“As with our other affected fixture, against Stade Rennais in the Europa Conference League, we shall update supporters with more information as soon as it is available.”
