JUST IN: Body Of Olubadan Arrives The Palace For Burial

The remains of the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oyo State, South-West Nigeria, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has arrived at the palace for burial.

Gatekeepers News reports that the monarch died at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.

He was 93-years-old at the time of his death.

He was crowned the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan following his coronation on March 4, 2016.

Before his coronation as the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji was the Balogun of Ibadan land.

The late Olubadan will be buried by 4pm according to Islamic rites.

His corpse was welcomed by a large crowd among whom were sympathisers who broke down in tears as the late Olubadan’s remains was offloaded from an ambulance.

The Monarch’s Personal Assistant/Director of Media and Publicity, Adeola Oloko, in a statement said the late Olubadan passed away in the early hours of this morning at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

The statement read, “The 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1 has joined his ancestor.

“Oba Adetunji, 93, passed away in the early hours of this morning at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.

“He is survived by his wife, Olori Rashidat Ololade Adetunji, Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“He will be buried at 4.00 pm today at his Popoyemoja, Ibadan Palace according to Muslim rites. Other things follow later.”
