Bauchi Commends Partners Of Healthcare Delivery Services

Bauchi State government has commended healthcare the support and construction of development partners in the improvement of Healthcare delivery services in the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Samaila Dahuwa commended the development partners in every aspect of healthcare delivery service.

Dahuwa made this commendation while giving opening remarks at the ‘IHP quarterly review meeting (PAUSE AND REFLECT LEARNING SESSION) for the first quarter of FY22 held on Tuesday at the Hazibal Hotel in the state.

The Commissioner said the collaboration has gone a long way in improving access to quality health by the populace, particularly primary healthcare.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Director of Public Health in the Ministry, Ibrahim Waziri assured that the Ministry will continue to relate with the development partners to achieve the target of the state government in relation to quality healthcare services across the state.

Dahuwa also commended the USAID/IHP program in the state, stating that the success recorded in the period under review cannot be overemphasised considering the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the program assisted the ongoing vaccination exercise against COVID-19 infection.

Also on the occasion was the Director, Hospital Services of the Bauchi State Hospital Management Board, Dr Robinson Yusuf who stressed that strengthening primary healthcare services is very important to quality healthcare delivery.

Yusuf opined that when primary healthcare is strengthened, access and quality delivery will be improved thereby lessening secondary and tertiary services stressing that all health challenges begin from the primary level.

According to him, this is the only way to promote quality health services delivery assuring that the HMB will continue to be part of the IHP/USAID program as long as it lasted.

The State Director of USAID funded program, IHP in Bauchi state, Dr Siaka Alhassan said that the year 2022 will be full of activities explaining that the meeting is looking at IHP planned activities, implementation, challenges, and way forward.

Alhassan also said that the meeting was meant for the state and partners to scrutinise what is presented and to criticise objectively for better action.

The Director further said that the challenge IHP faced was the delay in the 2022 work plan approval which made the project work on carried activities from year 2021 within the quarter.

The State Director however said that, “Now that the work plan have been approved, implementation had started.

“This is Bauchi state program and would be better to have presentation from the state on what IHP have implemented and where we are now.

“Participants are urged to be interactive and come up with constructive criticisms that would enable IHP to better move forward.”
