Super Eagles: Okoye And Iwobi Deactivate Social Media Comment Section

Two Super Eagles players, Maduka Okoye and Alex Iwobi have deactivated the comment section of their social media accounts.

Gatekeepers News reports that goalkeeper Okoye deactivated the comment section of his Instagram page following the deaths threats he received after Nigeria crashed out of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Okoye conceded the only goal which saw the Super Eagles out of the tournament, sending Tunisia to the quarter-final of the competition.

Gatekeepers News gathered that his Instagram page showed that users of the social media platform could not comment on any of his posts, hours after some of them blamed him for conceding the goal in the round of 16 clash on Sunday.

The Sparta Rotterdam player was blamed for being distracted due to the praises he got from female admirers.

Similarly, former Arsenal star, Alex Iwobi was also cyberbullied for initially receiving a yellow card for a stamp on Msakni and eventually sent off after the referee checked the VAR monitor.

The Everton player also deactivated the comment section of his Instagram page after the match ended.

In a related development, Sierra Leonean forward Kei Kamara’s home was almost burnt down in the wake of his country’s exit from the competition.

Kamara who failed to convert a late penalty in the game against Equatorial Guinea a few days back saw his team off the competition in a 1-0 defeat.

Angry fans immediately marched down to the footballer’s house in an attempt to burn it down but were stopped by security agencies.
