Osun APC Governorship Primary: Aregbesola Loses Ward To Oyetola

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has lost his ward to the Incumbent Governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola at the ongoing governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gatekeepers News reports that Oyetola polled 309 votes at Aregbesola’s ward 8, Ifofin, Ilesha east, while the Minister’s anointed aspirant, Moshood Adeoti scored 146 votes.

Meanwhile, Aregbesola was not sighted anywhere close to his ward as the leader of minister’s loyalists, Saheed Adegoke told journalists that he (Aregbesola) was not around to cast his vote for the exercise.

Adegoke noted that the minister went for a presidential assignment.

It was earlier reported that some APC members loyal to Aregbesola alleged the removal of their names from the party’s register.

They alleged that despite having the party’s membership cards, their names were missing on the register at the wards for the primary election.

Meanwhile, the Osun APC has been divided into two major factions (Ileri Oluwa group and TOP), causing disharmony in the party.

The Ileri Oluwa group is loyal to the incumbent governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola who is also contesting for a second term ticket.

The TOP on the other hand is loyal to Aregbesola – supporting Adeoti, a former secretary to the state government.
