The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Lawson Mayorkun Alade has been declared winner of the Akure North/Akure South Federal constituency by-election held on Saturday.
Gatekeepers News reports that INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, Prof Deji Ogunseni of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA announced the result at the state headquarters of the commission on Sunday morning.
Alade defeated Olumuyiwa Adu of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) by polling 26,370 votes against 24,201 scored by Adu.
The INEC returning officer said Out of a total of 365,088 registered voters in Akure Federal Constituency, 52, 546 persons presented themselves for accreditation while 51,346 were valid votes cast.
