JUST IN: Senate Passes Clause To Summon President

The Nigerian Senate has passed the clause to grant them the power of summon.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Senate passed the clause during the Constitution amendment plenary session.

The legislation seeks to alter the constitution to compel persons to obey or comply with legislative summons.

With this legislation, the Senate can now summon the President, Vice President, Ministers and Heads of parastatals.

It also stipulates penalties for offenders.
