The Nigerian Senate has rejected the creation of the Office of the Mayor of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Senate made the rejection during the constitution amendment plenary session.
The Bill seeks to Alter the Provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to provide for the Office of the Mayor for the Federal Capital Territory Administration Abuja.
The Bill seeks to remove the President as the Chief Executive Officer of the FCT and opt for an elected Mayor to administer the capital city.
62 senators in support while 25 voted against it.
