Confusion has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, produced two gubernatorial candidates in the Primary elections held today.
Gatekeepers News reports that a faction produced Former Senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State.
Another faction loyal to the former Governor of the State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola produced Prince Dotun Babayemi as the party’s candidate.
Six aspirants obtained nomination forms but three of them pulled out, leaving Senator Ademola Adeleke, Prince Dotun Babayemi and Sanya Omirin in the race.
The faction loyal to Senator Ademola Adeleke held its primary at the Osogbo Township Stadium while the one loyal to Prince Dotun Babayemi held thiers at the WOCDIF event centre along Ring Road, Osogbo.
A member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Shuaib Oyedokun, Ex-Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Prince Dotun Babayemi Senator Olu Alabi and Dele Adeleke (cousin of Senator Ademola Adeleke) were at the venue of Babayemi’s faction.
Adeleke won the primary supervised by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo at the Osogbo township stadium.
He won the election with 1,887 votes to defeat other five aspirants in the contest.
Babayemi on the other hand won with 1,981 votes to defeat other aspirants who had earlier stepped down for him.
A total number of 1903 delegates participated in process.
