Black Wednesday: Oshiomhole Commiserates With Otaru And Auchi People Over Truck Accident

Immediate past National Chairman of the APC and former governor of Edo State, Southern Nigeria, Adams Oshiomhole has commiserated with the Otaru and people of Auchi Kingdom over the truck accident that recently claimed many lives in the community.

Gatekeepers News reports that the former Governor sent his condolences in a statement signed by his Senior media aide, Victor Oshioke.

According to the statement, Oshiomhole “joins others in prayers that the souls of the departed rest in peace while wishing the wounded quick recovery and the courage to begin the process of getting their lives back together.”

On Wednesday, Gatekeepers News reported that scores of people were killed while many were injured as a BUA truck rammed into people, vehicles, and motorcycles on Otaru road.

The former leader of the ruling party said it is quite unfortunate that people going about their normal daily activities found themselves caught up in such traumatic and for some, life terminating circumstances.

Oshiomhole while stating that a similar accident have been recorded around that same spot before, said its high time all stakeholders came together to share ideas on how to put a permanent end to these recurring ugly incidents.

The statement read further, “Auchi is a fast-growing town in terms of population, urbanisation, and economy. This requires that measures are introduced to accommodate these growths to enhance security of lives and properties.”

The former Governor while proffering a possible solution which according to him should be considered seriously and immediately, “is the mounting of standardised asphalt speed bumps from Uyi Grand Hotel axis to Igbo Shed axis and from Otaru Palace axis to AP Filling Station axis all in downtown Auchi. Such speed bumps, if erected will greatly slow down the speed of all vehicles, especially heavy duty trucks descending the slopes and eliminate incidents of failed brakes that have been blamed for these accidents.”

The statement read further, “Comrade Adams Oshiomhole commiserates with the Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom HRH Alhaji H. A Momoh, Ikelebe III, the people of the kingdom and Edo people as a whole for this gory and painful incident.”
