Obiano's Passport Seized As He Regains Freedom From EFCC's Custody
Former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Gatekeepers News reports that Obiano who was arrested by the anti-graft agency hours after handing over to his successor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, regained his freedom a week after.

Obiano was picked at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on his way to the United States over the alleged misappropriation of N42 billion belonging to the Anambra State.

“Obiano was arrested for alleged misappropriation of public funds, including, N5 billion Sure-P and N37 billion security vote which was withdrawn in cash. Part of the funds was also allegedly diverted to finance political activities in the state,” Head of Media and Publicity of the EFFC, Wilson Uwujaren, said after the former governor’s arrest.

He was released on Wednesday granted the former governor administrative bail and withheld his passport while he is yet to fulfil his bail conditions.

Gatekeepers News reports that a video of Obiano in EFCC’s custody had leaked. In the viral video, the former Governor was in shorts drinking water.

The EFCC said it had identified its operative who made and published the video and sanctioned them.
