Warning: Chrome Users Are Vulnerable To Hackers – Google

Recruitment: Apply For Google Recruitment 2022
Google has warned that chrome users are vulnerable to hackers, releasing an emergency update for Chrome (99.0.4844.84) for Windows, Mac, and Linux users to address the high-severity zero-day bug.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Zero-day is the most dangerous form of attack because it means the vulnerability is known to hackers before Google could issue a fix.

The company revealed that the threat level is “High”, but did not state the area of attack and who discovered it. The US multinational tech giant only said an anonymous security researcher reported the bug on March 23, 2022.

According to an update published on its blog, “Google is aware that an exploit for CVE2022-1096 exists in the wild.”

The 99.0.4844.84 version is already rolling out worldwide in the stable desktop channel.

Google assured that the update would be released to its entire userbase “over the coming days/weeks”.

The company is restricting information about the exploit to buy time for Chrome users to upgrade.

“Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix,” Google said.

“We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.”

Google Chrome users are urged to upgrade their browsers immediately to prevent attacks.

To check your browser version, navigate to Settings > Help > About Google Chrome — this will also force Chrome to check for updates.
