United States of America (USA) has begun the construction of a “new and modern” consulate worth $537 million in Lagos state, Southwest Nigeria.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was present alongside US Ambassador, Mary Beth Leonard, and US Consul General, Claire Pierangelo at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The ceremony which marked the beginning of the project held on Thursday.
According to the mission, the structure will be located on a 12.2-acre site in Eko Atlantic City where “an estimated $95 million will be invested in the local economy, and the project will employ approximately 2,500 Nigerian citizens, including engineers, architects, artisans, construction workers, and administrative staff.”
Meanwhile, the project is expected to be completed in 2027.
