Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic speaker of the US House of Representatives, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Gatekeepers News reports that Pelosi’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Drew Hammill while confirming this on Thursday said the 82-year-old lawmaker is currently asymptomatic.
Hammill said on Twitter, “After testing negative this week, Speaker Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic.
“The Speaker is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is thankful for the robust protection the vaccine has provided. The Speaker will quarantine consistent with CDC guidance, and encourages everyone to get vaccinated, boosted and test regularly.”
The Democratic Speaker, who attended a bill signing event at the White House on Wednesday with President Joe Biden, cancelled a press conference planned for Thursday.
Her spokesman, however, revealed that she will quarantine in line with the guidance of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Meanwhile, at least two members of Biden’s cabinet and several lawmakers have tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a gala dinner in Washington over the weekend. However, reports revealed that Pelosi did not attend the event.
