Former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova is expecting her first child.
Gatekeepers News reports that the tennis star announced on Tuesday that she was expecting her first child with fiancée Alexander Gilkes on the occasion of her 35th birthday.
The Russian five-time Grand Slam champion confirmed the news on her 4.2 million Instagram followers.
Sharapova who retired from the sport in 2020, posted a picture on Instagram showing off her small bump while posing at the beach.
“Precious beginnings,” she wrote in the picture caption. “Eating birthday cake for two has always been my specialty.”
The British businessman Gilkes who has been in a relationship with the tennis star since 2018 reacted to Sharapova’s announcement with a simple heart-eye emoji.
