2023: Oyo Deputy Governor Olaniyan Dumps PDP For APC

Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that Olaniyan on Sunday announced that he has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olaniyan’s defection from PDP to APC comes a few days after the state governor, Makinde dropped him ahead of the 2023 elections. Makinde has picked Bayo Lawal as his running mate.

The deputy governor during an interaction with journalists on Sunday said his decision was due to calls from his supporters who were unhappy with his exclusion from the affairs of the PDP and the state.

Olaniyan however noted that his decision would not affect his relationship with Makinde.

He said: “Which official announcement do you want me to make?

“My friends and people asked me to leave PDP.

“I have joined APC.”
