Premier League: Four Matches To Look Out For This Weekend

Below are matches to look out for as Premier League returns this weekend:

Gatekeepers News earlier reported that Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday at the kick-off of the 2022/2023 Premier League season.

Other matches to look out for are as follows:

Manchester United vs Brighton – (14:00 – Sunday, August 7, 2022)

Fans of Manchester United who suffered many heartbreaking moments in the last season will be anxious to see the Red Devils play under the new boss, Erik ten Hag.

Although Hag has proven himself in the pre-season that isn’t enough for the supporters who saw their club finish 5th last season, failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Supporters cannot wait to watch their darling team return to winning ways even though they have not been too active in the transfer market.

West United vs Manchester City – (10 – Sunday, August 7, 2022)

Manchester City, the defending champions will go against David Moyes’ West Ham United at the weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side narrowly defeated Liverpool to win the league title last season.

As much as they were able to add a Norwegian goal machine to their rank this summer, some of their star players like Gabriel Jesus And Oleksandr Zinchenko left.

Coming up against West Ham would be a test for Pep Guardiola’s side’s strength for the new season.

Fulham vs Liverpool – (12:30 – Saturday, August 6, 2022)

Liverpool who competed side by side with City, the defending champions, last season would hopefully aim higher this season. Fans of the Reds will want to know how the team will perform without one of their main men, Sadio Mane, who left for Bayern Munich this summer.

Liverpool narrowly lost the title to Manchester City last season and have been tipped by pundits to challenge for the title again this season.

During the summer break, they added the likes of Uruguayan striker, Darwin Nuñez to their squad.

Pep Guardiola’s side defeated Premier League champions, City in the Community Shield last weekend.

Everton vs Chelsea – (17:30 – Saturday, August 6, 2022)

Chelsea will begin their title challenge away to a team managed by the former star, Frank Lampard – Everton.

 

Under Lampard, the Toffees defeated Thomas Tuchel’s side 1-0 towards the end of the 2021-22 season and will hope to start the season on a bright note having avoided relegation last season.

The Blues have been busy in the transfer window to bolster a team that finished third after Manchester City and Liverpool.

Although Everton on the other hand have not added any quality signing to their ranks, letting some top stars such as Richarlison leave for Tottenham will not be an easy nut to crack for the Blues.
