Gatekeepers News reports that Onabule was said to have died on Tuesday at the age of 83.
He was born in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, Southwest in September 1939.
Onabule attended the CMS Grammar School in Lagos before moving on to the London School of Journalism.
In 1961, he joined Daily Express as a journalist, and later worked with Daily Sketch three years later.
Onabule was said to have returned to Daily Express after working with Daily Sketch for a period.
He also worked with Daily Times in the 1970s. In 1984 when Concord press was established, Onabule was appointed features editor and rose to become editor of the newspaper.
The announcement of Onabule’s passing comes at the time Babangida is turning 81.
Meanwhile, IBB on Tuesday in Minna, the capital of Niger, advised Nigerians to seek God’s intervention for direction in the country’s political activities.
He had said, “I plead with us to be patient with one another and be prayerful for God’s intervention in our socio-economic and political activities.
“We need to continue to sensitise people on how to live in peace and harmony for peace, progress and for the continuous existence as a nation.”
Babangida was military head of state from 1985 to 1993.
