Osinbajo Signs Condolence Register For Queen Elizabeth II

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday, signed the condolence register for Queen Elizabeth II at the Lancaster House, London.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Vice President’s Spokesman, Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Osinbajo in his message described the late Queen Elizabeth II as a monarch for all seasons who brought people together from all over the world.

The Vice President said, “Nigeria joins the government and people of the UK, the Commonwealth, and rest of the world in expressing our sincere condolence to the royal family on the passing of a monarch for all seasons.

“May the Lord bless her memory.”

The Vice President joined the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, which has been described as the biggest gathering of world leaders for years, to pay last respect to the late British monarch at the Queen’s lying in state at different times on Sunday.

Aside Osinbajo, other world leaders who were present at Westminster Hall to witness the lying in state included U.S. President Joe Biden; Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau; French President Emmanuel Macron, among other royals and Heads of State and Government.

Later, Osinbajo held a bilateral meeting with UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly.

They discussed how to improve trade ties between both countries, especially expanding opportunities for Nigerian businesses and supporting the country’s climate objectives.

The two leaders discussed the imperative of strengthening the international coalition to tackle insecurity in the Sahel and the horn of Africa region.

The UK Foreign Secretary welcomed Nigeria’s participation at the funeral programme for Queen Elizabeth ll.

Cleverly expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s solidarity and friendship with the UK on the mourning of the monarch, and also a celebration of the life and times of the late Queen.

Osinbajo will today (Monday) attend the finale of 10 days of national mourning for Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, at Westminster Abbey.

After the service at the Abbey, the late Queen’s coffin will be transported through the historic heart of London on a gun carriage. It will then be taken in a hearse to Windsor, where the queen will be interred alongside her late husband, Prince Philip, who died last year.
