FG Signs MoU With Microsoft To Train 5m Nigerians

Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft, an American multinational technology company, to upskill 5 million Nigerians with digital skills.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, signed the MoU on the sidelines of the GITEX Global 2022 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday.

The agreement was in line with the country’s digital policy and strategy.

“In Dubai, on the sideline of GITEX2022 on behalf of the government of Nigeria, [tthe] minister of communications and digital Economy, Isa Pantami, signed an MoU with Microsoft to upskill five million Nigerians with digital skills in line with the digital Nigeria policy and strategy,” the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy said in a tweet.

The ministry said a Nigerian delegation, led by the minister, also held a meeting with Oracle, a computer technology corporation, represented by its senior vice-president, Middle East and Africa (MEA).

It said the meeting was aimed at deepening collaboration in the areas of digital transformation, digital economy, among others.

Meanwhile, at the event, Pantami, who is also the chairman of World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), led the Nigerian delegation to a networking tour of Huawei pavilion.
