KB Club, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, hosted a medical outreach at the Christ Apostolic Church, Egbeda in Alimosho LGA of Lagos State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the KB Klub is the exclusive and foremost socio-philanthropic organization of male medical students in the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
The outreach which was organised to mark its 53rd Annual Philanthropic Day, focused on improving maternal health and reducing child mortality. It was themed: “A Chance at Life for the Future”.
Professionals from the Lagos State Ministry of Health were on ground to perform Cervical Cancer and Breast Cancer screening for 100 women between the ages of 25 and 65.
There was a distribution of insecticide-treated nets for 50 pregnant women and children.
Other benefits of the outreach as mentioned by KB Klub Chairman for Committee On Philanthropic Activities, include; “Community health education on the best practices to improve maternal health, Breast &
Cervical cancer awareness.
“Free medical consultation and vital health checkups for over 150 women, men and
children.
“Distribution of essential drugs to over 150 women, men and children.
“Practical demonstration of the use of HIV self-testing kits and distribution of over 500
HIV self-testing kits to men and women.”
Anthony noted that the club believes the outreach was “a step in the right direction in seeing the prevalence of early child mortality to a decline and an improvement in the state of maternal health in our region.”
