Lagos State governor, South West Nigeria, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inaugurated a new leadership fellowship named after a former governor of the state, Lateef Jakande.
Gatekeepers News reports that Sanwo-Olu shared photos from the inauguration of the first class of the Lateef Jakande Leadership and Fellowship Academy.
He said, “When our administration thought about setting up the Academy, we said to ourselves that we didn’t want to name another street or estate after the late Jakande, because his name has had a lot of that. We thought about establishing an institution that will sustain and project the values for which he was known.”
The governor said that from thousands of applications, 36 individuals have been selected to be part of the inaugural class of the fellowship.
The Kaduna State government, has a similar programme for young Nigerians on leadership called the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship.
