Special Assistant to the Delta State governor on Sports, Sam Sodje has applauded the Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on the success of the just concluded National Sports festival.
Gatekeepers News reports that Sodje who further congratulated the Executive Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission, Tonobok Okowa, said the success of Delta 2022 is a fallout of good planning on the part of everybody involved in the festival.
The SSA to Governor Okowa on Sports said, ”The successful hosting of the festival is a clear evidence of good planning and the coordinated teamwork of all those that were involved in the execution of this very important national project.
“The fact that Delta State has once again come first on the medals table just goes to show the very serious background work that was done by the State government, the Sports Commission, and all those in the State Sports sector of which I am so proud to be a member.”
Sodje further hailed the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, and the President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau.
He said, “I want to also use this same opportunity to thank and congratulate our hard-working Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, who was on the ground in Asaba for the duration of the festival, and the President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) who was also in our dear State to witness and enjoy the hospitality of the people of Delta State.”
Sodje, thereafter, clamoured for recognition and support of the outstanding performance of athletes discovered during the festival.
He said, “It is my wish, hope, and prayers that the various Sports Associations across the country will take proper recognition of all the outstanding athletes discovered during the festival and make the necessary arrangements to monitor them and develop them going forward so as to enable them achieve their full potential because without such follow up and development, the reason behind the organization of this festival will be completely defeated.”
