How To Buy Starlink In Nigeria

Nigerians are delighted to welcome a new player, Starlink, that will challenge the existing internet service providers. There are expectations that Starlink will not only deliver swift internet services but may affect the prices of data in nearest future due to competition.

Gatekeepers News reports that Starlink is a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, a company founded in 2002 by Elon Musk. SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches rockets and spacecraft but started launching Starlink satellites in 2019.

The company, in 2021, saw Nigeria as a viable business location and liaised with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to secure the licences needed to launch its service in the country. In 2022, Musk announced that Starlink had been approved for deployment in Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News earlier reported that Starlink is now live in Nigeria weeks after weeks after preorder sales were announced.

How to buy Starlink

• Interested users should click here to visit the official website and check if Starlink is available in their location by inputting their address on the website.
• Then proceed to place an order by inputting your contact information (how the delivery agent will reach you) and your billing information (how Space X will deduct their fees from you).
• Checks by Gatekeepers News revealed that users will be charged N19,260 per month for service and N268,584 for hardware. There is also a 30-day trial.
• Shipping times are estimated to be 3-4 weeks from the order. It is not a same-day delivery deal.

Gatekeepers News observed that users can pay a part of the charge and there is currently no shipping fee. After the shipping approval, which is when Space X is ready to ship the product, users will be expected to pay the balance charge in total, after which one can expect to receive the product. According to Starlink, the deposit is fully refundable at any time while waiting for the product arrives.

“Prior to Starlink shipping your Kit, your Deposit Payment is fully refundable and can be requested at any time via your Starlink account. If you seek and obtain a refund, you will forfeit your priority position,” Starlink wrote in its Terms of Services read by Gatekeepers News.

How to Install Starlink

• Users are responsible for the installation of the Starlink Kit in a location that has a clear field of view of the sky
• Users are advised not to modify the Starlink Kit in a manner (including cosmetic/paint changes) that contradicts the Install Guide that would alter the transmission characteristics of the equipment, including placing the antenna under a cover/radome, unless approved by Starlink.
• Use the Starlink Install App and the Install Guide available in the Starlink Customer Portal.
• If you cannot safely install the Starlink Kit, do not install it and seek professional assistance.
