Early Life
Born to David Lopez and Guadalupe Rodríguez on July 24, 1969, in the Castle Hill neighborhood of The Bronx, New York. Lopez toured New York with her school when she was seven years old. She ran track on a national level, participated in gymnastics, and was on the softball team while in school. Lopez also danced in school musicals and played a lead role in a production of Godspell.
There was “lots of music” in the typically Puerto Rican household, and Lopez and her sisters were encouraged to sing, dance and create their plays for family events.
While attending her final year of high school, she learned about a film casting that was seeking several teenage girls for small roles.
