EPL Round-Up: Arsenal Retain Top Spot – Man United Slid To Fourth

It was a mixed feelings for various clubs as the English Premier League returned over the weekend.

Gatekeepers News reports that Arsenal consistency this season have proven their resistance to giving up their top spot as they relegation-threatened Leeds 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Although Arsenal’s goal machine, Bukola Saka didn’t do his wonders in the Saturday March, Gabriel Jesus announced his comeback from injury by cruising in a brace for Mikel Arteta men.

In-between Jesus’ brace (35 pen and
55) was Ben White’s goal at the 47th minute.  Although Ramsus Kristensen netted a consolation goal for Leeds at 75th minute, Granit Xhaka called the scoreline a wrap at 84th minute after netting the fourth goal for Arsenal. The match ended 4-1 in favour of the Gunners.

On that same Saturday, Manchester City secured the same 4-1 win over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. City with an outstanding match are currently eight points behind Arsenal on the table, while Liverpool struggle at the right position with 42 points – 18 points below City (although Klopp’s men two outstanding game at hand).

Meanwhile, Chelsea conceded in each half to lose 2-0 to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. Ollie Watkins and John McGinn goals led to the defeat.

Following Graham Potter’s failure to win in consecutive EPL matches at Stamford Bridge, the club announced his dismissal on Sunday.

In a related development, Leicester City, have parted ways with Coach Brendan Rodgers following 2-1 lost to Crystal Palace.

The defeat was Leicester’s fifth in six matches, pushing the club to relegation zone.

In other news, Newcastle United defeated Manchester United 2-0 to move the third spot on the EPL table. United having lost 3 points to their Sunday rival, slid to the fourth points due to goal difference.
