‘King of Boys’ Sola Sobowale’s Biography And Net Worth

Sola Sobowale is a Nigerian film actress, screenwriter, director and producer.

Gatekeepers News reports that Sola became popular for her role as Toyin Tomato in Super Story and, most recent, as Eniola Salami in King of Boys and Awarun in Anikulapo.

Early Life
Sola Sobowale was born to Joseph and Esther Olagookun (both in academia) in Ondo State on the 26th of December 1965.

Her father, Joseph Olagookun, was a secondary school principal in Ondo state but has since retired, while her mother was an headmistress of a primary school in Ondo state.

After her elementary and secondary education in Ondo, Sola proceeded to bag a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan (UI).

Career
She first entered the movie industry with the assistance of her brother-in-law, Tunji Oyelana, and made her acting début in the film Sura, the Tailor. Tunji Oyelana not only helped Sola launch her performing career, but he also enrolled her in university. Oyelana worked as an actor, singer, and educator.

Before shooting into stardom, Sola had roles in The Village Headmaster, Mirror in the Sun, and the Yoruba film, Asewo To Re Mecca (1992). She joined acting through numerous roles in movies produced by Awada Kerikeri Group under the leadership of Adebayo Salami.

Over the years, Sola had scripted, co-scripted, directed and produced several Nigerian films.

Sola scripted, produced and directed, Ohun Oko Somida, a 2010 Nigerian film that stars Adebayo Salami. She featured in Dangerous Twins, a 2004 Nigerian drama film produced by Tade Ogidan, written and directed by Niji Akanni.

Sola is also featured in Family on Fire produced and directed by Tade Ogidan.

In 2019, she received the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actress in a leading role for her role in the 2018 Netflix original series: King of Boys, which was directed by Kemi Adetiba.

Her notable works include: Diamond Ring (1998), Super Story: Oh Father, Oh Daughter (2001), Outkast (2001), Ayomida (2003), Disorientated Generation (2009), The Wedding Party (2016 and 2017), Hustle (2016-2018), Christmas is Coming (2017), Crazy People (2018), The Men’s Club (2018-2020), Wives on Strike: The Revolution (2019), Gold Statue (2019), Shadow Parties (2020), Aníkúlápó (2022) and Shanty Town (2023).

Sola revealed on her Instagram page in July 2022, that she had been cast in her first Bollywood role for the upcoming film by film director Hamisha Daryani Ahuja.

Sola Sobowale is married Sola Sobowale is married to Oludotun Sobowale, a former Executive Director of Eko Hospital. She has four children.
