The Amazing Story of Betrayal, Deceit, And Conspiracy Theories At The NBA Benin Branch By Douglas Ogbankwa
Collins Callistus Benson Ogiegbaen was the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch when I was Publicity Secretary from 2018-2020. Naturally, we did things together. I have a strong background in mainstream media and social media and I without sounding immodest revolutionised the Position of the Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch, in a way never done before. Unknown to me all through the period I put the NBA Benin on the National Map including hitting the front pages of 6 national newspapers in one day, healing the news on Channels, AIT and TVC in one day, and hitting a documentary on the BBC World Service, I was being envied by many.
All these came to the fore on the 7th of January, 2023 when a young lady called Sandra Palmer Agho was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force Benin Metro on a Petition written by my good self for my client Kelvin Uyi Martins, based in Denmark
At about 3 pm to 4 pm on that day, This Young Girl Assaulted me in front of the Area Commander, Benin Metro at her Office along Sapele Road, Benin City. She slapped and hit me severally and tore my clothes. At first, she was remorseful, kneeling down to beg me, I however thought I had friends whom I could count on, as I was disoriented having never been assaulted in my whole life, as I have maintained a clean slate as a man of impeccable character and unquestionable conduct, gaining awards, appointment s from around Nigeria, I never knew that this was another source of envy by many close friends.
After the said Assault, Ogiegbaen came with two others, but as soon as he saw the slim and lissome Sandra Palmer Agho, Ogiegbaen quickly said “This Girl Fine o”, to my astonishment. Ogiegbaen quickly turned from a lion that he calls himself to a pussycat, glancing at the girl with lustful fervour and begging me to drop the case.
Ogiegbaen begged me to stop writing my Statement and I roared at him and told him he can not do that. There was palpable tension. The Police Officers present were bewildered at the turn of events and one asked me if Ogiegbaen that came was my friend or my enemy.
I have always known that women were Ogiegbaen’s weaknesses, but I never realised that he would trade me so cheaply for one. Ogiegbaen stayed behind and ensured he begged me till very late, asking me what will be gain if the girl was charged to Court, I answered, “The Dignity of the Bar.” The Pussy Cat in him however could not fathom the fulcrum of his Inaugural Speech when he was Chairman of the NBA When he said, “The Market Women now ask, Where is the NBA?” Well, I have news for Ogiegbaen the NBA Benin Bar is now at the Market Place, where anything goes. Ogiegbaen and Co., orchestrated an Emergency Meeting of the NBA to remove as Chairman of the NBA Benin Bar Police Relations Committee. They Forgot they were Lawyers, so they did not remember the Principle of fair hearing. They argued among themselves and there was confusion in the house. In the Power Pandemonium that ensued, they disbanded the Committee and gave me the elixir to set up a national platform which is Police – Lawyers Advocacy Group (PLAG)…I laugh.
Back to the Story by Tuesday the 10th of January, 2023, Sandra Palmer Agho, the girl who has turned to Ogiegbaen ‘s Client indicated loudly that he missed a call from Collins Ogiegbaen in my presence at the Area Commander, Benin Meteo. She indicated that she would see Ogiegbaen later that day. A day before, the Girl had gone to NAPTIP same initiated by Ogiegbaen, I had gone on a Meeting with the Zonal Commander of NAPTIP.
On that same Tuesday the 10th of January, 2023, Ogiegbaen Constituted a Legal at his Office at JBS on Boundary Road, Benin City. A Master of subterfuge and deceit, Ogiegbaen now played the Activist and the Woman the Victim. As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria asked, “If it was Douglas Ogbankwa that assaulted that woman, would Nigeria not be on fire now with Headline ‘NBA Official Assaults Vulnerable Woman in Front of the Area Commander Benin Metro “.
Ogiegbaen got his sidekick Chris Otasowie to do the first Petition. The Petition dated 10th January 2023. The Girl made her statement on the 12th of January, 2023.On that 12th of January. On the 16th of January, 2023, this girl made additional statement on that 12th of January, 2023, I led Gun Men to my client’s House among other false accusations. Ogiegbaen is the one behind all these. But the girl forgot that on that 12th January 2023, was when she made her first statement. That she did not indicate same on that date and she did report to any nearest police station.
They needed a new hatchet man. Ogiegbaen and Co. recruited Victor Nna, a young and uncouth Young Man, whose major trade is betrayals. I had seen Victor as an upcoming young Lawyer and I have given him some briefs, as I do to encourage young lawyers. Victor has turned James Hardley Chase as his latest story is sweeter than “No Orchard for Miss Blandish.” But it is babaldash (*sic) and extreme falsehood.
Victor Nna now did a Petition on behalf of Sandra Palmer Agho, falsely stating that I led gunmen to my client’s house. Sandra Palmer Agho does not live at my client’s property and she is also not by the facts and documents available married to my client.
When she was arrested on the 7th of January, 2023, she indicated her address in a certified true copy of her statement form as “5, 2nd Ofunwegbe, Off Usama, Benin City” By Erhuwense, Ekenwan Road. She is mistress of lies and falsehoods. If she greeted you “Good Morning,” you have to check the time, it could be a lie.
I was first invited by the Police at the AIG Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City, vide a letter of invitation signed by one DSP Festus Aghese. My name was not mentioned in the Petition. In anger I proceeded to Force Headquarters, Abuja and The Inspector General of Police through his Principal Staff Officer, CSP Abubakar Abdulkadir ordered that “the Edo State Command Deal”.
I came back to Benin and I was still being harassed and intimidated by the Police and one SP Ikpomwonsa had taken the case as a contract. He was combative , jaundiced and very unprofessional. I made moves in the matter including a Second Visit to the IGP and the Police Service Commission. My reason was that I wanted my story heard, I did not want to go to Court, because I knew it would have far reaching implications on how Policing is done in Nigeria. But I was forced to go to Court and what was my reward from the NBA, they disbanded the Bar Police Relations Committee and same was being tended by Yvonne Osawe, who is fixated in being Chairman of the Bar Police.
My resignation as Publicity Secretary of the LSN was predicated on this issue. Those who urged me on to take up the LSN Appointment, were the first to reach out to Branch Leaders to remove me from all NBA Platforms. NBA Benin is like PBA-Petitions Bar Association.
Collins is better than many who do not say much, but want your downfall. They have now entered into alliance, scheming. My name is *Onyebuchi*, no one is God. They do not know how I got here and they can not take me out. This issue is capable of bringing about a crisis in the NBA never before seen. Let us thread with caution.
The Chameleon Collins Ogiegbaen is a man who chooses your colour.You feel so comfortable with him and then he strikes you, while telling you, he is not the cause of your problem.
Gross Professional Misconduct
Collins Ogiegbaen is highly deluded. He has a complex. He believes he can do no wrong. I will advice him to read the Rules of Professional Conduct. He is pushing me and I have warned him severally. I have Collins Ogiegbaen in his balls on Professional Misconduct, Collins don’t push me!
I urge all sundry the ignore the lies spewed in his story. He feels he has much, but he has nothing, empty keg makes the loudest noise.
He is always good at talking People down and having a superiority complex, which is an inferiority complex turned upside down. He should retrace his steps, instead of grandstanding, or better still bury his head in shame. He should at least have a sense of shame.
I feel pained doing this, but the world has to hear my story.
