The Kaduna State Police Command has intensified efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities through community engagement and security patrols across troubled areas of the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the command, led by Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu, is seeking vital intelligence from traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to help identify and apprehend kidnappers and other criminal suspects.
In a statement on Tuesday, the police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said Rabiu led members of the command’s management team on a patrol on October 19, 2026, covering the Eastern Bypass, Rido Village, Maraban Rido, Unguwan Luka and Izam community in Igabi Local Government Area.
According to Hassan, the exercise was designed to assess the security situation, identify local concerns and strengthen relations between the police and the communities.
At Maraban Rido, the commissioner met with the traditional ruler and residents, who raised concerns about security challenges in the area.
Rabiu urged community members to cooperate with the police in tackling criminal activities, particularly kidnapping, which continues to pose a threat to residents in affected communities.
The police spokesperson said the commissioner emphasised the importance of public participation in preventing crime and improving security.
“CP Rabiu emphasized that community support is essential to crime prevention. He urged traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups and residents to promptly report suspicious persons and movements, assuring that all information would be treated with confidentiality and acted upon professionally,” the statement said.
The commissioner also stressed that timely intelligence would enable security personnel to respond swiftly to threats and prevent attacks.
The patrol was subsequently extended to Unguwan Luka and Izam community, where the police team assessed security concerns and engaged with residents.
The command reiterated the importance of collaboration between security agencies and local communities in identifying criminal elements, gathering intelligence and preventing kidnapping and other security threats.
