Ogun State Government has said 111 travellers from countries considered at high risk of Ebola have completed health monitoring and been discharged from follow-up.
Gatekeepers News reports that Health Commissioner Tomi Coker disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, as the state strengthened its preparedness following confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja.
Coker said the travellers were identified and monitored for the required surveillance period.
She said the state’s emergency operations centre was coordinating efforts to ensure the “prompt identification, reporting and management of any suspected case”.
The government has also trained surveillance personnel, port health officials, clinicians and community informants, while reinforcing infection prevention measures in health facilities.
Coker urged residents to stay alert, remain calm and rely on official health information.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Ali Pate said on Tuesday that the Abuja patient, a woman who arrived from Uganda, was receiving treatment in isolation. Authorities identified 44 close contacts for tracing.
Ogun authorities said no Ebola case had been recorded in the state as of October 21.
