The first set of Nigerians —including students — stranded in war-torn Sudan have arrived in Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Nigerians were evacuated from Egypt by Air Peace and Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Both aircraft arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja at 11:30 pm and 12 midnight on Wednesday, respectively.

Upon their arrival, health officials and immigration officers attended to the returnees.

They expressed their delight to be back in the country.

“We are happy to be back home,” one of the students said.
