Another Batch Of Nigerians Evacuated From Sudan Arrives Abuja

Another batch of Nigerians evacuated from Sudan has arrived at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Gatekeepers News reports that the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) announced this through its official Twitter page on Saturday.

According to NiDCOM, the batch which comprises 131 Nigerians, including 124 adults and seven infants, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at about 1:45 pm.

The statement read, “Another batch of Evacuees: 131 Nigerian nationals (evacuees) 124 Adults, 7 Infants that departed Port Sudan International Airport landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 1:45 pm via Tarco Airline B737-300 Aircraft today Saturday, 6th May 2023.”

Gatekeepers News earlier reported that the first batch of evacuees arrived in the country on Wednesday.

The Commission had earlier assured that about 1,700 remaining Nigerians in Sudan would be evacuated “in a matter of days”.

The Head of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols at NiDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun on Saturday, spoke about the plans to airlift stranded Nigerians in Sudan.

Balogun stated that the next batch of returnees was being expected in “another 12 hours or less, all things being equal”.

He said all the issues that have to do with the delay of other flights had been addressed.

NiDCOM said, “Max Air with a capacity of 540 PAX, AZMAN Air with 400 PAX, and C130 are on the ground to evacuate others, while Tarco promised to make two more trips as well as Air Peace on standby.”
