Gatekeepers News reports that Kanu had on Nov. 3, 2022, filed an appeal at the Supreme Court against the Court of Appeal’s verdict stopping his release from the DSS custody.
The IPOB leader appealed against the Oct. 28, 2022 decision of the appellate court, which stayed the execution of its earlier order acquitting him of all charges and directing his release from the custody of the secret police.
Before the hearing, Kanu’s Lead Counsel Ifeanyi Ejiofor had urged the Supreme Court to ensure justice in the trial of his client.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ejiofor had said, “We have appealed to the Supreme Court to set aside the ruling of the Court of Appeal staying the execution of the court’s judgment discharging and placing further bar to any further detention and prosecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on any charge/indictment before any court in Nigeria.”
