Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) retail outlet has increased pump price in Abuja, Jos and Lagos.
Gatekeepers News reports that the news pricing came out on Tuesday morning.
A reliable source told Gatekeepers news that NNPCL Retail outlet now sells fuel at N617 per litre in Abuja.
In a related development, the NNPCL retail outlet in Jos has been adjusted from the N537 it sold on Monday to N617 naira Tuesday morning.
As at the time www.samsonomale.com visited the station, engineers were seen working on the pumps to reflect the new price.
Meanwhile, the NNPCL retail outlets in Lagos are currently selling at N568 per Litre.
Motorists have begun to vent their frustrations and anger at the sudden increase in the price of petrol, at a time they claim they were still trying to adjust to the new reality.
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) on Monday said oil marketers have commenced the importation of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).
The Chief Executive Officer, NMDPRA, Farouk Ahmed, disclosed this during a stakeholder engagement in Lagos on Monday.
According to Ahmed, of the 56 oil marketing companies that applied for and obtained licences, 10 indicated the ability to import in the third quarter of 2023, while three had “landed cargo”, the CEO added.
Ahmed listed the three companies currently importing the product to include, A.Y. Ashafa, Prudent Energy, and Emadeb, adding that others would import between August and September, 2023.
This comes seven full weeks after President Bola Tinubu’s May 29 inaugural address, during which he declared that “fuel subsidy is gone.”
- This is an indication that the monopoly of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) comes to an end.
