Senate Confirms Seven Of 10 INEC RECs Appointed By Tinubu

Senate has approved the appointment of seven of the nominees of President Bola Tinubu as Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC REC).

Gatekeepers News reports that the remaining three nominees were not present for screening.

The nominees approved are Etekamba Umoren from Akwa – Ibom; Isha Ehimeakne from Edo; Oluwatoyin Babalola from Ekiti; Abubakar Ahmed from Gombe; Shehu Wahab from Kwara; Aminu Idris from Nasarawa; Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq from Niger.

On Wednesday, Tinubu sent a request for confirmation of the nomination of the INEC REC in accordance with the provisions of Section 154(1) of the Constitution.

The President had last week approved the appointment of 10 new RECs for INEC for a five-year term each.
