Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has revealed that Nigeria’s crude oil production has increased to 1.84 million barrels per day (bpd), reflecting a notable recovery in the country’s oil sector.

Gatekeepers News reports that the commission noted that the new figure represents a sharp rise from the 1.31 million bpd recorded in February, based on data from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

The NUPRC chief executive, Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, described the development as encouraging, saying, “We are doing 1.84 million barrels per day. That is a remarkable feat but I am sure we will do more.”

She explained that the earlier decline in production was due to maintenance activities and operational challenges at major oil facilities, but added that these issues have now been addressed, allowing output to improve steadily.

The increase comes amid rising global oil prices, which could significantly boost Nigeria’s revenue, as the government continues efforts to strengthen production capacity and reduce losses in the sector.
