IMO: Nigeria Police Probes Officer Over Ballot Box Snatching

Nigeria Police Force has begun an investigation into the case of a police officer allegedly involved in ballot box snatching and electoral malpractice during the Imo State governorship election.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a viral video, a man in a police uniform was caught , beaten and paraded by angry residents of the Amakohia Ikeduru Collation Centre in Imo after being accused of snatching a ballot box.

Reacting to this, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, said the police force was aware of the allegation.

While acknowledging the seriousness of the incident, he assured the public of a thorough investigation to maintain the integrity of the force and uphold election integrity.

“We do not take this issue lightly as it borders on the integrity of the force and the capability of its members to maintain election integrity. We therefore assure the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and we will update you asap. It requires a thorough investigation,” he said.
