Newcastle United scored a second half winner to claim maximum points in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter with Manchester United on Saturday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Magpies made it three straight wins over the Red Devils since losing the Carabao Cup final to Erik ten Hag’s side last year.
Anthony Gordon was the goalscorer as United failed to get on the scoresheet for the third straight game against Newcastle.
The Magpies dominated the encounter but were denied a first-half lead by the bar from Kieran Trippier’s free kick.
Eddie Howe’s side eventually pounced on a mistake to take the lead on 55 minutes, with Gordon slotting in at the back post from Trippier’s low cross.
Despite an injury suffered by goalkeeper Nick Pope, the home side saw out the encounter to move up to fifth position with 26 points from 14 matches, two ahead of Man United.
Elsewhere, Arsenal opened a four-point lead at the EPL summit thanks to a 2-1 win against Wolves. Burnley also scooped a big 5-0 win over Sheffield United.
