EPL: Liverpool Top Table – Arsenal And Man United Suffer Defeats

Arsenal on Saturday suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Villa Park.

Gatekeepers News reports that Mikel Arteta’s men were unable to break down the impeccable home record of the resolute Villa side.

On Wednesday, the Villains defeated champions Manchester City and repeated the trick against Arsenal by the same scoreline to declare themselves as potential title contenders.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa made a blistering start to the match and deservedly took the lead in seven minutes when McGinn controlled Leon Bailey’s cutback before slamming a shot into the net.

Although Arsenal searched for a way back into the game, the unwavering defending skills of  Unai Emery’s men foiled the visitor’s attempts.

Saturday’s victory handed Aston Villa a record-breaking 15th consecutive league win at home, extending from last season as Unai Emery’s team has won all eight EPL matches at home this term, moving them to third spot on the EPL table.

In other news, Liverpool have secured the top spot of the table after netting a late goal to earn another comeback victory against Crystal Palace in the first match of Saturday.

On a day Mohamed Salah scored his 200th Liverpool goal in all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp’s side’s 2-1 win gave them the liberty to replace Arsenal at the top of the EPL table, having secured 37 points from 16 matches, one ahead of the Gunners.

Manchester United were however roundly defeated 3-0 at home by Bournemouth who recorded their first-ever win at Old Trafford.
