Defence Minister and Service Chiefs Visit Plateau State After Fresh Gunmen Attack

Following a recent attack by gunmen in Plateau State, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and top military officials paid a visit to the affected region.

Gatekeepers News reports that the visit comes hours after assailants killed no fewer than two persons, including a father and his son, in a fresh attack which occurred in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.

Onboard the Nigerian Air Force plane, the dignitaries landed at the Yakubu Gowon Airport Heipang by 10:10 am. After that, Matawalle was on ground to take the salute by military officials.

Accompanying the service chiefs Matawalle was the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu.

Service chiefs present were the Minister of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Musa; the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar.

The delegation’s arrival follows heightened security concerns in Plateau State, which witnessed a devastating attack on Christmas Eve, claiming over 190 lives.
