Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected international dictates on peace deal.
Gatekeepers News reports that Netanyahu made his comments after holding a 40-minute phone call with US President Joe Biden.
Netanyahu added that Israel will “continue to oppose the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state” as it would be a “huge reward to unprecedented terrorism.”
Biden, earlier reiterated his warning to Israel not to go ahead with its planned assault on Rafah.
According to the White House, the US President advocated for a credible plan to ensure the safety of more than a million Palestinians sheltering in Rafah.
Biden during his call with Netanyahu on Thursday, “reiterated his view that a military operation should not proceed without a credible and executable plan for ensuring the safety of and support for the civilians in Rafah.”
The Thursday’s call was the second time in less than a week that he has warned Netanyahu against launching a military campaign in Rafah without a plan to protect civilians.
Israel’s attacks on Gaza have killed at least 28,663 Palestinians and wounded 68,395 since October 7. The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas-led attacks stands at 1,139.
Meanwhile, the families of Israeli captives held in Gaza by Hamas since October 7 protested last night outside Israel’s Defence Ministry compound in Tel Aviv.
They believe Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has not done enough to secure their return.
