Man Jumps Into Lagoon ‘After Being Accused Of Stealing Cements’

A man simply identified as Azeez has reportedly jumped into the lagoon in Lagos state, Southwest Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News reports that the incident was said to have occurred on Friday morning at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.

Lagos state command police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident.

Hundeyin said the director in charge of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) operations in Lagos central, reported the case at Ikoyi.

Hundeyin said when a rescue team arrived at the scene, they met the lifeless body of a man who had drowned.

“The deceased was later identified as Azeez. He was later confirmed dead by paramedics of Pre Hospital Care, Lagos,” Hundeyin was quoted as saying.

“It was discovered that one Elijah Amos, the seller of the cement, was pursuing the deceased before he jumped into the Lagoon because he was alleged to have stolen some bags of cement.”

The spokesperson said the police are investigating the case, adding that the corpse has been evacuated to the mortuary for autopsy.
