Brazil To Host 2027 Women’s World Cup

Brazil To Host 2027 Women’s World Cup
Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has announced Brazil as the host country for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Gatekeepers News reports that the decision was made through an electronic vote during the 74th FIFA Congress meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday.

Brazil’s bid received overwhelming support, garnering 119 votes from member associations, surpassing the joint bid from Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany, which secured 78 votes.

This marks a historic milestone as Brazil becomes the first South American country to host the prestigious women’s football tournament. Initially, South Africa had also expressed interest in hosting but withdrew its bid in November 2023 to focus on a comprehensive bid for the 2031 World Cup.

The current champion, Spain, won the title by defeating England in the 2023 final, which was jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons made a notable appearance, advancing to the second round before being eliminated by the eventual runners-up.

The exact dates for the 2027 Women’s World Cup have yet to be announced, but it is expected to follow the 32-team format of the previous edition.
